About the event
Bring your kids and grandparents out to our family-friendly Benefit Concert fundraiser for Dream Catcher Meadows - an inclusive green care farm animal sanctuary in Potomac, MD. Washington, DC-based Geno Marriott & the Spirit of Jazz and Nashville country music artist Jamie Lee Thurston will play a benefit concert to raise funds for our our little farm with a big heart!!! A range of instrumental and vocal jazz music interspersed with a mix of country music will create an eclectic ambiance for our outdoor event.
The fun-filled afternoon will include pig-amorous wedding nuptials for Noah, our 8 year old neutered orphaned Kune Kune, and our newest fuzzy friends - his 90-day piggy fiances, Fiona and Pua - both recently rehomed from a farm in Upper Marlboro, MD. A food truck (hopefully pizza) and IC Dreams, LLC (ice cream and snow cones) will be at the farm along with water for guests to purchase. Guests can also bring their own picnic lunch (with plans to carry out your trash). Participants will enjoy a "silent auction" of a few items of piggy memorabilia, henna tattoos, and hand-made bracelets.
The event will include kids' "VIP tickets" into the barnyard to safely and gently interact with our hand-raised emus, Bubbles & Big Bird, our 3 flocks of chickens, as well as Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Goat Gang, and our horses - Angel, Arya, and Kingston. VIP guests will learn about the animals' "back stories" - how they came to be rescued or rehomed at the farm and why it is important to care about animals for environmental health. They will also have a peek into our "Clubhouse" to learn about the mission of our "Earthkeepers Kinder Farming" Program.
Volunteer attendants will assist with parking and information. Registration will be at our new "Welcome Center," where VIP ticket holders will sign a waiver to enter the animal areas. Please do not bring dogs or other animals of your own to the farm. There will be plenty of furry, feathery love to go around!
100% of proceeds from the event will pay for veterinary care, medication, feed, and hay for our animals. [Although there is a 7 day cancelation allowed, we request that if you are unable to attend for any reason that you donate your ticket price to our fundraising efforts.] There will be no rain date. A large 30'x30' tent will cover the area of the concert so the "big pig day" party can go on, rain or shine!!!
